Maat is the ancient Egyptian concept of truth and was personified as a goddess regulating stars, seasons and the actions of mortals and deities. Her primary role involved the weighing of souls. A feather determined if souls, residing in the heart, of the departed would reach paradise successfully in the afterlife.
